Sometimes incisive technical insight can be exactly what's needed to solve complex IT Architecture problems or get a struggling project back on track. Bringing in an experienced Subject Matter Expert can make all the difference in the world! Our company provides Senior IT Consultants on an on-demand basis. We ensure top technical skills, advanced industry knowledge, and depth-and-breadth of experience are available when you need it, without draining your IT budget!

Storage Infrastructure Stabilization

Your Production data storage equipment may be functional, but is it stable? All IT equipment tends to suffer "creeping disorganization" over time. Passwords aren't updated, obsolete data is not removed., I/O paths become unbalanced, naming conventions overlooked, security patches not installed, etc. Our Storage Infrastructure Stabilization Assessment goes back-to-basics and ensures all configuration and features have been properly implemented and are operating at maximum efficiency.

SAN/NAS Capacity Assessment

Data Center Enhancements Inc. offers a comprehensive analysis program for evaluating storage, capturing key growth and performance metrics, analyzing data, and presenting the results in a coherent and professional document. This review usually entails a detailed examination of all storage components, design configuration, performance, power consumption, policies and procedures, physical resource consumption, support costs, skills requirements, and other aspects of the infrastructure.

Data Center Assessment

Data Center Enhancements provides a thorough, in-depth review of all aspects of a data center including but not limited to: underutilized servers/storage, power consumption, cooling, floor space, rack space, useful lifespan of equipment, regulatory compliance, security, and other aspects of the production environment, to name a few. The issues we identify help reduce IT expenses and improve operational efficiency. We provide industry-leading senior consultants to perform all of our assessments. Our consultants provide a complete review of the IT operating environment with technical, performance, and financial considerations in mind, and deliver consolidation and virtualization recommendations to reduce total cost of ownership.

Disaster Recovery Readiness Assessment

Organization, preparation, regular testing, and frequent updates to include any changes are the keys to DR planning success. Due to the unpredictability a disaster event can bring your company, a DCEI Disaster Recovery Readiness Assessment will help ensure you are ready. Our Disaster Recovery Readiness Assessment is designed to identify areas where critical business processes need protection, and recommend alternative approaches that allow your company to meet both Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs). It will outline steps necessary to ensure business resiliency in the event of a local or regional catastrophe.

IT Architecture Misc. Services

You run a tight ship.  Your IT department staff is continually operating at maximum capacity.  All the important IT functions are being delivered in a timely and meticulous fashion.  However, you still have an uncomfortable feeling that some secondary things just aren’t getting done.  While daily production is running like a well-oiled machine, you know lower priority tasks like disaster recovery plan updates, policy and procedure revisions, emerging technology evaluations, and performance troubleshooting are not getting done. Since they are not highly visible activities, you never seem to have key individuals with the time available to catch up on important, but less pressing tasks.

Unfortunately second tier projects can mask disasters waiting in the wings.  All it takes is one major outage to painfully illustrate how important something like up-to-date documents and drawings are.  Capacity management is not an urgent issue – until you find out there's no money left in the budget to fall back on, or you learn that delivery of expansion equipment is currently running 45-60 days.  Senior management can request that specialty equipment must quickly be deployed, but you have no one on staff with the skills, knowledge, training, or experience necessary to plan and design it.  Catch-up projects tend to be cumulative, and can push themselved to the forefront over time.

Challenges:

Important as they may be, it is sometimes difficult to locate the proper technical talent needed to resolve smaller, short-term project requirements.  Major consulting companies provide personnel do this, but they prefer to assign their best technical resources to larger, long duration projects with high corporate visibility.  If you turn to staff augmentation for personnel, you may well get someone with solid technical knowledge, but without a broader architectural perspective or out-of-the-box thinking skills to produce truly innovative solutions. Hiring a new, highly skilled employee is an option as well, but that can become problematic once most secondary tasks have been brought back up-to-date and this new employee has nothing of significant value waiting in their pipeline.

Our Solution:

Data Center Enhancements Inc. can provide proven senior technical IT Specalists to address larger long-term projects, as well as smaller assignmets that are less prominent but that may have huge operational implications.  Some examples of the secondary projects we can resolve include:

  • Small IT Project Planning and Design
  • Operational Efficiency Evaluations
  • IT Policy, Procedure, and Process Modernization
  • Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plan updates
  • Technical Products and Services Evaluation
  • Troubleshooting and Performance Analysis
  • Capacity Assessment and Recovery
  • Systems Monitoring and Reporting Management
  • Project Scope Evaluation and Realignment
  • IT Budget Evalluation and Optimization
  • Advanced Security Enhancements
  • Draft RFP/RFQ Development
  • Technical Documentation and Drawing Updates

As senior IT professionals with many years of experience, we have performed these and many other similar activities over the span of our careers.  If you have technology-related tasks that need to be addressed, there is an excellent chance we have the right person for the job.
